Method 1 : How to merge partitions in windows 10 using Disk Management
First of all in order to know how to merge partitions in Windows 10 Go to your Disk Management Window
You can open the Disk Management Window using any of these 3 methods.
Method 1: Press Windows + R . This will launch the Windows Run program. In that program simply type “diskmgmt.mse” and hit enter to launch the disk management window.
Method 2: Press Windows + X on your keyboard. and then select Disk Management from the context menu.
Method 3 : Open File Manager >> Right Click on This PC >> Select “Manage” >> A new Window will open >> Select Disk Management from left menu
Step 2 :
Select the Drive you want to merge. Normally we merge Drive “D” with Drive “C” as Drive “C” primarily remains the system drive. So select the Drive you want to merge.
Right-click on Drive you want to merge >> Select Delete Volume >> After Deleting volume the drive will show unallocated space.
Before you delete volume make sure that you take a backup of your drive as deleting will erase everything and you won’t be able to restore the files later.
Step 3 :
After you have deleted the storage the drive will show unallocated volume which needs to be reallocated with the windows partitions drive where you want to add storage. In this case as we have deleted the volume of Windows partitions Drive “D” we will now be allocating that deleted volume in to Windows partitions Drive “C”.
Right click on Windows Drive Partition “C” >> Select Expand Storage >> A setup wizard will begin to expand the storage
As you can see we have 386.57 GB of storage in Windows Drive “C” . After merging Windows partitions we will get more storage in Drive “C”
Step 4 :
A setup wizard will begin that will help you to extend windows partition. Go through the setup wizard by clicking “Next” . At one point it will show you the amount of storage you have available to allocate to Windows partitions Drive “C” . You can select the full storage or else you can select anything less from that. After selecting the amount of storage in terms of MB hit “Next”. After successfully completing the setup wizard you will see that the volume of your Windows Drive “C” has been extended.
A setup Wizard will run >> select “Next” >> select the amount of storage you want to allocate >> select “Next” again >> Select “Finish” >> Now check your Windows partition Drive “C”
Step 5 :
To be sure cross check your Windows Drive “C” storage volume.
As you can see earlier we had 386.57 GB of storage space in Windows partition “C” and now we have extended the storage volume to 476.04 GB .
Method 2 : How to Merge two drives in Windows 10 using Third Party Applications
You can also go for using third party applications to merge windows partitions. By using third party applications you can choose to keep the data from both the partitions.
